LS Series Description
LS series load banks are designed for permanent installation suitable for harsh outdoor environments. Featuring the Smartload LSM800MB processor, providing accurate load control with incremental load steps to maintain generators at a constant set load, eliminating wet stacking and cylinder bore glazing.
The control software is designed to load and maintain one or more generators, typically a single generator operation or when in parallel. The LSM800MB provides user-friendly field settings, digital display and is available with options to include a remote manual override “Mimic” control panel with Auto Exercising function and Modbus interface. For regenerative applications, units are available with the LSM800MB-RG regenerative control system.
Sephco load banks incorporate immersion proof and vibration proof stainless steel resistors. Safety features include the Sephco “Triple Interlock” load protection system, guarding against fan cooling failure, airflow restriction, high temperature and fan reversal. Unique features of Sephco load banks include circuit breaker protection for each load group and full accessibility to switchgear components and resistors.
Installation of LS type load banks will ensure optimum reliable power from generators. Constant load maintained on generators will prevent wet stacking, cylinder bore glazing and reduce emissions.

LSM800MB Automatic Generator Load Controllers
The LSM800MB load bank controller is a monitoring processor which monitors the plant or building load on generators. To maintain the generator at a desired load set by the controller, loads from the load bank are automatically applied as the building or plant load varies. Loads are applied in discreet values to prevent transient conditions on the generator. Fitted with dual menus as an option, the controller expands the monitoring operation to load a two-generator operation.
The controller and load bank is activated only when a voltage-free signal is applied.
All settings such as generator capacity, CT value, operating voltage and time delay are field adjustable. Settings remain in memory even during power loss.
Generator Monitoring Input Options
Options of system monitoring inputs are available typically
1. 0-5 Amps (CT) Standard 2. 0-10 VDC (0V=Zero Generator Amps, 10V=Full Generator Amps)
External Command Input
1. External Command Using 0-10VDC (0V=Zero Generator Amps, 10V=Full Generator Amps) Load steps regulated by external PLC.
The monitoring of the load bank’s safety interlocks and fan cooling is still maintained and managed by the LSM800MB controller.
LS800MPE Manual Override “MIMIC” Control Pane
The LS800MPE is an optional control panel added to the load bank installation for remote, manual override of the load bank for periodical testing and exercising of the generator. Connection is by a simple three-core cable, connected to the load bank’s auxiliary terminals. Featuring a touch-type keypad and LED display, the LS800MPE offers simple operation for manual controllability of the load bank.
Selection of operation includes Manual Loading, Auto-Loading and Auto Genset Exercise modes. The exercising function is programmable by setting up a load routine with time duration. The LED display indicates the kilowatt value activated at the load bank during any of the switching operations. Additional LED’s display mode selection and the status of the load bank, including fan-cooling fault.
The remote “Enable” signal connected to the LSM800MB prevents operation of the Mimic panel when the generating system is operating in the emergency back-up mode, preventing inadvertent use of the load bank. When the “Enable” signal is closed, the control system reverts back to auto-loading of the generator.
